Trauma- Informed Therapy
A safe & supportive space to process past experiences that continue to impact you in the present.
What is trauma?
Trauma refers to the emotional, psychological, or physical impact of experiences that feel overwhelming, distressing, or unsafe. This can include a single event (such as an accident or assault) or ongoing experiences (such as chronic stress, childhood adversity, or relational harm, etc.). Trauma is not only about what happened, but how the experience affected you. It often shows up as anxiety, difficulty trusting others, emotional distress, or feeling disconnected from yourself or your surroundings.
What is trauma-informed care?
Trauma-informed care is an approach that recognizes the impact of trauma and prioritizes safety, trust, and empowerment in the therapeutic process. Rather than asking “What’s wrong with you?”, this approach considers “What has happened to you?”
What is cognitive processing therapy?
Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) is an evidence-based treatment often used to help individuals process and recover from trauma. It focuses on identifying and challenging unhelpful beliefs related to the traumatic experience and replacing them with more balanced and realistic perspectives. Through this process, individuals can reduce emotional distress, better understand their experiences, and move toward healing.
We’ll move at your pace to better understand these experiences, reduce emotional distress, and support your healing in a way that feels safe and grounded.
